Why are we doing this?

Kirsti and I met while we were both students in London. She was doing her Ph.D. and I was doing an internship after my MA. On our first encounter, we knew we shared the same sustainable vision for the fashion industry. And let me tell you, at that time, sustainability was not something you talked a lot about in the industry.

So since the first day we met, we knew we wanted to work together to do what we can to help transform the industry towards sustainability. We started our journey doing what we love doing the most; traveling and learning. We visited production facilities in Shanghai, Hong Kong, New York and closer to our homes in Europe.

"Life is long and anything can happen when you start doing what you believe in."

We have discovered amazing brands working hard to create responsible business models. We have learned about brands that sell their sustainable efforts but do nothing but greenwash.

We have seen the beautiful side and the ugly side of the fashion industry. The waste, the lies, the injustice of the whole supply chain, the smiles, the positive impact, and the beauty that comes with fashion.

We wanted to find out how we could make the biggest impact to change the direction of the worst side of the fashion industry. We had a lot of discussions and in the end, we kept coming back to one thing. Education.

We believe education is the cornerstone of change.

Research-based and inspirational educational material can motivate companies, policy-makers, and consumers alike. So this is where we focused.

"We create research-based courses on the last sustainable developments of the fashion industry and with the profits give free courses to factory workers."

Our first open course on Sustainable Fashion managed to enroll 45.000 people. We have also created the platform 'Sustainability for Schools', which hosts material on sustainability for teachers all over the world.

The feedback was very positive and people kept asking for more. So we decided to create our own company. HONEST FASHION. We devote ourselves to creating research-based courses on the last sustainable developments in the fashion industry and with the profits give free courses to factory workers. Creating real change.

This way we can help even out some of the inequalities of the fashion system, one course at a time.

This is the way we found, but we are sure each one of you has amazing ideas in mind that can turn into a sustainable reality. We are extremely happy to be sharing this journey with you and we hope you enjoy our courses as much as we enjoyed creating them.

Best,

Ana
